THE PROJECT INVOLVED THE RESTORATION OF THE CLASSICAL STYLE ARMOURY BUILDING DESIGNED BY FRANCIS JOHNSTON IN 1810. THE BRIEF CALLED FOR A CONTEMPORARY OFFICE SPACE AS AN EXTENSION TO THE EXISTING HQ ON ANGLESEA ST. THE SENSITIVE RESTORATION OF THE ARMOURY, A PROTECTED STRUCTURE, TO PROVIDE MEETING ROOMS, ACTS AS A STRONG COUNTERPOINT TO THE MODERN OPEN PLAN OFFICE, PROVIDING AN ECLECTIC AND CHARISMATIC BUILDING. THE BUILDING USES PASSIVE STACK VENTILATION IN LIEU OF AIR CONDITIONING TO VENTILATE THE SPACES.
MY ROLE WHILST WORKING WITH HENRY J. LYONS WAS THAT OF PROJECT ARCHITECT AT TENDER AND CONSTRUCTION STAGES OF THE PROJECT. THIS INCLUDED LEADING THE TENDER PROCESS & THE DETAIL DESIGN OF THE PROJECT, MANAGING THE DESIGN TEAM & LIAISING WITH THE CLIENT DURING TENDER STAGE AS WELL AS MANAGING THE PROJECT AND DESIGN TEAM ON SITE AT CONSTRUCTION STAGE AND ACTING AS CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE PROJECT UP TO COMPLETION.
